In the last 30 years more natural, non-renewable resources have been used than were consumed in the entire known history of civilisation up to that point.
The climate changes show that new standards must be set in the production and consumption of non-renewable resources. The plastics industry is now increasing its efforts to develop more environmentally friendly plastic solutions.
The Swedish plastic compound manufacturer Polykemi and BEKUM are presenting a innovativ plastic as part of the EBLOW market launch at K'2007 in Düsseldorf. This plastic is very suitable for the extrusion blow moulding process. The plastic, which is a highly filled chalk compound, has remarkable mechanical properties and is a more environmentally friendly packaging alternative for the foodstuffs industry. In addition to excellent properties such as suitability for foodstuff packing, good barrier properties and extended shelf-life, the positive environmental balance in material composition and the fact that it is fully recyclable are also very beneficial. Changing package material from pure polyethylene to SCANFILL will save 25-35% in energy consumption from raw material to finished product.
Should you require further information on this future-orientated material and its many possibilities for use in production on BEKUM blow moulding machines, we will be happy to be of help.
